Cascade Falls Hike Such a Beautiful Adventure!
About
This beautiful waterfall, also known simply as The Cascades, is located on Falls Creek about 15 miles east of Boone, NC at milepost 271.9 on the Blue Ridge Parkway. It’s a fairly easy 1.2 mile hike, although there are lots of steps, to two different overlooks. Signs warn to stick to the main trail and behind the stone walls at the overlooks. Directions: connect to the Blue Ridge Parkway via the ramp closest to The Cascades, from U.S. 421 in Deep Gap, at the Parkway overpass bridge. Note: this is also at the Eastern Continental Divide. At the top of the Parkway ramp, turn left onto the Parkway and drive north 4.4 miles to E. B. Jeffress Park and The Cascade Falls overlook and parking lot.

The trail is actually a loop and there are signs along the way telling what some of the vegetation in the area is. You can take either way, but most folks take the right side to the falls and come back the other way. Not too far before the top of the falls, the trail crosses the creek, then follows it down some stairs to a stone wall and the top viewing area.
